APP develops and manufactures ignition systems for space launchers. Those launchers are invaluable, both for science as well as for our daily lives. Navigation, weather forecasts, telecom and disaster control can hardly be done without satellites. Rockets bring satellites to their destination: in orbit around the earth. APP supports project Stratos and DARE with valuable knowledge on propulsion systems.

The Stratos III 'Nimbus' engine was tested at TNO facilities in Rijswijk.

Stratos electronics, such as the flight computer and engine control unit, are all based on multiple NXP microcontrollers. These microcontrollers make the rocket fully autonomous. With over 50 years of experience MT Aerospace is a well-respected international aerospace company, providing critical parts to Europe's launch and satellite industry. For example, MT Aerospace provides many critical components for Europe's Ariane V launcher such as the tank domes and the booster casings. It is companies like MT Aerospace which make the Stratos III project possible.

3D Systems provides the most advanced and comprehensive 3D digital design and fabrication solutions available today, including 3D printers, print materials and on-demand custom parts. 3D Systems has capabilities to print plastics, metals, ceramics, and edibles. For Stratos III their Customer Innovation Center helped the team with consulting and printing the lightweight titanium nozzle, saving almost 50% weight!

Oerlikon Metco is a market leader in advanced materials, thick-layer surface technologies and turbine component solutions with a global presence and firmly anchored position in the aerospace, power generation, automotive and industrial markets. For the Stratos III project Oerlikon Metco supplied the materials for the additively manufactured nozzles, provided technical consulting about thermal barrier coatings and applied these coatings to the additively manufactured rocket nozzles.
