A presentation for French rocket scientist of the future

Dare is not the only student group in Europe who builds rockets. In France there is project Perseus. The goal of this project is to train students in the craft of rocketry and let them invent new innovative solutions for future launchers. Because we can learn from each other they invited us to watch the design update presentation of six of their groups. At the end of every presentation the groups were questioned by real experts, who for example also worked on the Ariane 5. After their presentations we also gave a short update about our Stratos II project.
One of the students group who participate in Perseus is OCTAVE (Objectif de Construction Technique Aérospatiale de la Ville d’Evry). After our presentation we visted their workshop. Just as our workshop theirs is located together will all kinds of other aerospace (student) project and share a very nice machine shop (We were a bit jealous because they also had a very nice CNC machine). In their own workshop they showed the progress on their new rocket which they will hopefully launch at our next launch day with our DX1-EE motor. Unfortunately for them it is in France not allowed as students to handle rocket motors. There rocket is made of carbon and has a mechanical radial deployed recovery mechanism. We are looking forward to meet them again in and see their rocket fly in May.
