The Stratos II team is pleased to announce that it has been nominated for the “Luchtvaart- en Ruimtevaart fonds” prize 2013!

 

As announced today by the Dutch “Luchtvaart- en Ruimtevaart fonds“ (Aeronautics and Astronautics fund), the Stratos II project has been nominated for their yearly prize to promote practical educational projects in the field of aerospace.

 

Stratos II has been nominated in the Universities category of the prize. They will be competing with three other teams that have been nominated. These are:

  • Designing, building and testing of a “flying bicycle” (TU Delft)
  • ATMOS UAV (TU Delft)
  • Operation of a lunar system (Universiteit Leiden)

 

There were a total of 22 applications from different schools and universities from across the Netherlands. Of these 9 were nominated for the prize, divided over three categories. Apart from the university category mentioned above, there is a category for MBO education and for HBO education. The nominees here are:

 

MBO

  • Pulse Jet Engine Leeuwenborgh
  • Lange Mensen Stoel ROC VA

HBO

  • Minimalisering onstabiele landingen (ArkeFly) HvA
  • Handleiding UAV’s i.s.m. NLR HvA
  • Verbetering Waste & Water management KLM E&M HvA

 

The prize that will be awarded consist of €10.000 for each category. The winners will be announced at the award ceremony that will take place on Saturday the 9th of November in Noordwijk.
